I leave tomorrow morning for the Philippines! Some very good friends of mine, Nate and Laura Davis, have been in Manila for the last year working with women that have been rescued or are in process of being recused from prostitution and sex trafficking. Laura received a Fulbright grant last year to do research on a novel she is writing on the topic (which I now believe is in a first draft process!). They both quit their jobs a year ago, packed up their home and headed East for the year!
My goal is to document the women they have been working work and visually capture the context in which they live their lives. I will spend 3 weeks there looking into the process of recovery for them, their daily routine, if possible, the life they are coming out of. It will be a very difficult and sensitive subject to cover, but the goal is awareness. Most of us know this exists but to see it will be further proof that we can not ignore it.
