I love my job! I just got back from my second trip to Southern Oregon University to photograph for their marketing and communications department. They have a great staff to work with and I felt very welcomed by all of the school’s departments. This time around we scheduled to cover one of their football games which was just the icing on the cake of a wonderful week of shooting up there – more images to come later of my favorites from the week!
As a former photojournalist I’ve covered dozens of high school and college football games, usually on fridays nights under horrible stadium lights and in the fall freezing cold (think Iowa). This was was not the case last week! SOU has a great stadium surrounded by rolling green mountains with misty clouds surrounding their valley. Usually as a newspaper shooter I would focus on the sports action and then add some fan reactions, but for this situation our goal was to provide a bank of images that story-tell not just this game but football and school spirit at SOU overall. And they delivered! The coaches, players, students and alumni carried so much energy and enthusiasm I was on moment capturing overload! Everywhere I looked there was something compelling to photograph. Go SOU Raiders!!!
